Akon Apologizes

Earlier this week, I told you how Verizon dropped Akon from their music service and stopped sponsoring his tour with Gwen Stefani, after they saw the video of him aggressively grinding on a 15-YEAR-OLD girl at a show in Trinidad on April 12th.

Yesterday, Akon gave HIS first interview about what happened at the concert. Quote, "I want to sincerely apologize for the embarrassment and any pain I've caused to the young woman, her family and the Trinidad community.

"It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans, especially those under age 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18. Somehow, that standard was not met.

"I pledge to all that we will strive to make sure this type of incident doesn't happen again."

The club has since been shut down. No legal charges have been filed against Akon.
