Lindsay Lohan did indeed check into the Promises rehab clinic in Malibu on Monday. . . after being driven there by her lawyer. Here's the official statement from her people. . .
"Lindsay admitted herself to an intensive medical rehabilitation facility on Memorial Day.
"Because this is a medical matter, it is our hope that the press will appreciate the seriousness of the situation and respect the privacy of Lindsay as well as the other patients receiving treatment at the facility."
And the word is that Lindsay is serious this time. So serious that she's not even leaving Promises for 30 days. . . and she'll be an outpatient for a lot longer when she gets out.
Meanwhile, Lindsay's career is once again suffering at the hands of her need TO party.
Lindsay was supposed to start shooting a movie this week called "Poor Things", with Shirley Maclaine, Olympia Dukakis and Rosario Dawson.
The producers have already said that Lindsay's DUI arrest won't affect filming. It's not clear yet whether their position has been changed by the fact that she's in Rehab.
With potential DUI and cocaine possession charges in her future, a lot of people are half-joking that Lindsay could end up in a prison cell with her buddy, Paris Hilton. Don't count on it!
Paul Gellar, a California defense attorney who specializes in drunk driving cases, says Lindsay probably won't get any jail time.
What she's more likely looking at is stuff like having her license suspended, being fined about $1,500 and being forced to take a first-offender alcohol and narcotics driver-safety program. She'd also end up with some kind of probation, most likely.
If they hit her with the cocaine charge, she'll probably also be looking at a rehab program. . . which she may have already taken care of by checking herself in on Monday.
Sigh.
